I have had lots of scanners in my time. The old scanners worked fine with a amplified speaker plugged in the headphone jack. On noisy or poor voice traffic some were unintelligible on the SDS100, the IC-R30 still had impressive clear audio.So I recently purchased an SDS100 with the DMR upgrade. If you type a lower-case ASCII charactor from a limited set (dhlmoqrwz), several lines of formatted ASCII numbers are sent from the scanner. This looks like engineering debugging output rather than a customer feature. The sub-processor appears to be a NXP LPC4370. Solder the red wires together and to pin 5, Black wires together and to pin 1, Green wires together and to pin 2. I soldered wires to the three pins on the USB plug first and then soldered the 3 different sets of wires to the leads. Solder the bare wires together. Last year, just under one year into the warranty, my wife started her car while the scanner was plugged into the car for power. It shut down and would not power back on. The marine case is touted as being waterproof/resistant so Uniden kept the moisture resistant feature and advertised it as a plus for the SDS100. But the marine portables don’t use SDR. The SDS100 is designed to properly and reliably receive LSM simulcast systems, whether Phase 1 or Phase 2. My beloved SDS100 started acting up this morning, and I can't figure out what might be wrong. The issues I describe below seem to have started this morning when I turned off all my favorites lists, except for two digital trunked systems (one of which I reprogrammed last night). The message says that my SDS100 is up to date. It has firmware 1.10.00 and sub version 1.02.01. The Sentinel update to 2.03 went fine and now has the new tuning steps for custom searches, but I don't have any need for them. If it makes any difference, I updated Sentenel first.Jun 5, 2020 · I bought my SDS100 new from zipscanner.com on April 9th, 2020 (Less than two months ago). Arrived on time, in new condition, all was well. Functionality of this scanner is fantastic. Programming is a breeze. Handles simulcast better than any other scanner out there. Speaker could be improved but its performance is acceptable. I noticed the SDS100 has a dedicated battery pack so that is a buzzkill compared to AA batteries I'm used to. I will be required to purchase an extra battery and charger.
